    The epigraph from the "The Places They Left" states, "The only thing we are proud of in connection with the South is that we left it." Would you say this is an accurate representation of migrants' feelings about the South? How does it compare with other epigraphs/statements in the book?

    This epigraph certainly summarizes how some migrants felt about the South—for example, it seems to fairly accurately describe Robert's feelings—but it is by no means representative of all migrants.
