The symbolism of betrayal
Hadley's father is a symbol of betrayal because he cheats on his wife with a younger woman. When Hadley's mother discovers that her husband is having a love affair with a younger woman, the marriage ends in divorce. Consequently, Hadley's father betrays his wife and daughter. Making matters worse, Hadley's father forces her to be the bridesmaid at his wedding with his new wife. Hadley feels betrayed by her father because she knows he is doing the wrong thing.
The symbol of a plane encounter
The plane encounter symbolizes the innocence of love. When Hadley misses her first flight, she boards the next flight, where she sits next to a handsome boy called Oliver, heading to the same destination. Initially, Hadley tries to ignore Oliver's conversation, but she finds his charming looks irresistible. They start talking until they get comfortable with each other. When they arrive in London, Hadley realizes that she has fallen in love with Oliver, but he is no longer in sight.
The wedding party
The wedding party is a symbol of acceptance. At first, Hadley does not want to live with her new stepmother. Hadley refuses to accept her father's invitation to the wedding party, and she frankly tells him that she does not want anything to do with her stepmother. However, Hadley reconsiders her decision and decides to attend the party. Hardley asks for forgiveness from her father and her new stepmother, and they dance together as a sign of acceptance.
