“That which we give makes us richer, that which is hoarded is lost”

1. Story of Rostevan, King of the Arabians. Line 50

Rostevan acquaints his daughter, Tinatin, with a pearl of ancient wisdom when she ascends the throne. Rostevan states that if Tinatin is a generous ruler, she will gain the favor of his people. Those who are loyal to her will rejoice and remain as faithful as they have been, and those who are traitors will appreciate the king's generosity and glorify her. That is why Tinatin is doubly enriched by giving out wealth, as the money allocated will be returned and she will be cherished by her people.

“Death finds his way unimpeded, be the path narrow or rocky”

21. The testament of Avtandil to king Rostevan when he stole away, line 781

Avtandil is well aware of the fact that his choice to flee is going to offend King Rostevan. For this very reason, he writes a letter explaining the obligation for running off. He states, that if it is Avtandil's well-being Rostevan is concerned about, it is all for nothing as he believes that if Avtandil is destined to die, it does not matter whether he stays in Arabia or takes off to a dangerous road. He believes that Death is unstoppable and God only decides human fate.

“Know that a rose without thorns has never been plucked”

24. Avtandil's second departure and meeting with Tariel. Line 857

Rose is a beautiful creature. It fascinates all of its viewers, but as wonderful as it is, it's extremely laborious to obtain. With the words quoted above, Avtandil implies that whatever seems appealing to the eye always takes much more effort to be acquired, thus Tariel should not be despaired and he must proceed to seek his lost lover as unfeasible as it may seem.
