Jessica Campbell
She is the social worker and daughter of the Gerry and Donna Campbell. Jessica discovers the mystery and background of the Cheng sisters and her mother. She plays the most important role in this novel.
Gerry Campbell
He is the father of Jessica, and he helps Jessica to rearrange their household. Later, he calls the police to investigate the murder. He has no major role to play in this novel.
Donna Campbell
She is the mother of Jessica and wife of Gerry. Donna is very helpful and endearing to all children, even to the Cheng sisters. She had cancer, but she refuses to do chemo and dies.
Cheng sisters
They are Jamie and Casey Cheng. The dead bodies of them are found in the freezer of Campbell’s house. From Jessica’s discovery we come to know that they are from very poor background. They were running away in different places. The police had a "missing" file on their names but the case was closed eighteen years ego. After finding the dead bodies, the police re-start the investigation.
Trevor
He is Jessica’s boyfriend. Jessica thinks him to be not ‘man’ enough, but he is very loyal and sober. He does not have much of a role to play in this novel.
