writing, critical thinking, comprehensive analysis of the book
to chronicle students' individual reaction to the book
This is a simple exercise for students to respond to and reflect on the novel as a whole. Give students 5-10 minutes to free write a response about any aspects of the novel. The response can be stream-of-consciousness and need not be written well; ideally, the students' pens should be moving the entire time.
