to engage students in the world of the novel
PREP: Cover the board or a wall with three large sheets of paper lined up in a row. The first should be labeled “Characters”; the second, “Setting”; the third, “Events/Plot”. Draw a horizontal line dividing each of the papers in half – label the row for the top half of the papers “Already Know” and the bottom half “Want to Know”. You should end up with a large table with three columns (characters, setting, events) and two rows (already know, want to know).
