Chapter 10 - Fluids - Questions - Page 284: 11

Answer

Salt water.

Work Step by Step

As seen from Table 10-1, salt water is denser than pure water. When you float, you displace a volume of liquid whose weight equals your own weight. Because the saltwater is denser, i.e., has more mass per cubic meter, you displace less of it. Less of your body is underwater, and you float higher in saltwater than in fresh water.
