Chapter 22 - Think and Explain - Page 427-428: 60

Answer

You can accomplish this feat by induction.

Work Step by Step

The process is illustrated in Figures 22.7 and 22.8. Bring your positively charged object near the object you want to charge. This will attract electrons to the near side of the uncharged object, leaving the far side positively charged. Now touch the far side of that object with your finger, and the contact allows electrons to flow from your body to the positive charge. Take away your finger, and now the object has a net negative charge!
