Chapter 15 - Electric Charge, Forces, and Fields - Learning Path Questions and Exercises - Conceptual Questions - Page 555: 15

Answer

The positive charge will have an radially outward electric field which will end at the inside of the spherical metal shell. A negative charge will be induced inside the spherical shell which means that a positive charge has been induced outside the shell. This positive induced charge will again have a radially outward electric field. The electric field inside the metal shell is zero as the total charge on the shell is zero.
