As the roads leading to the mountain wind back and forth, the angle of inclination is very much reduced compared to the roads leading straight up the mountain. This reduces the force required to move the vehicle up and also the power required as Power = Force * Velocity However, it increases the length of the road so that the work done to reach the top remains the same.
