Chapter 10 - Gases - Exercises - Page 432: 10.1

Answer

It would be much easier to drink from a straw on Mars.

Work Step by Step

Pressure is exerted on the inside and outside of a straw when it is placed in a liquid. When we suck on a straw, we reduce the pressure and cause the liquid to rise. With the low atmospheric pressure on Mars, it would take only a small reduction in pressure to cause the liquid to rise.
