Chapter 3 - Exercises - Page 130: 7

Answer

Binary ionic compounds are named by writing the name of the metal followed by nonmetal ending in –ide. For example, Sodium Chloride. If an ionic compound contains a polyatomic ion, then the name of the ion is written after the name of metal. For example NaNO_{3} is called Sodium Nitrate.
