Anode The Anode is the negative or reducing electrode that releases electrons to the external circuit and oxidizes during an electrochemical reaction. Cathode The Cathode is the positive or oxidizing electrode that acquires electrons from the external circuit and is reduced during the electrochemical reaction. Cell Voltage The potential difference between the two electrodes of an electrochemical cell is known as the cell voltage. Electromotive force (emf) It's a term used instead of cell voltage. It s a measure of the voltage of an electrochemical cell. Standard reduction potential It is denied as the reduction potential of an electrode when its concentration is maintained 1 M or 1 atm(for gases) at standard conditions of temperature.
