Chapter 6 - Section 6.1 - Blood: An Overview - Check Your Progress - Page 117: 2

Answer

The three types of plasma proteins are albumins, globulins, and fibrinogen.

Work Step by Step

Albumins – Albumins are more prevalent in blood than the other two types of plasma proteins. Albumins maintain blood’s osmotic pressure. Globulins – these come in three types: alpha, beta, and gamma globulins. Alpha and beta globulins function to transport substances in blood. Gamma globulins are found in white blood cells and help the body fight off pathogens, defending the body against disease. Fibrinogen – Once activated, this fibrinogen forms a blood clot to defend against blood loss
