This is not strictly true because there is no such thing as the "first" cell division. According to the cell doctrine, cells are only generated by cells and the only way to make more cells is by the division of those that already exist. So, even though cells have been dividing uninterrupted for many years, there is no such thing as the first cell division and you cannot say there was one.
