Oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged in the lungs and through all cell membranes by diffusion. These gases move from higher concentration to lower concentration down the concentration gradient. Carbon dioxide diffuses from blood to alveoli where as oxygen diffuses from alveoli to the blood
