There are four main types of tissues. These are epithelial tissue, nervous tissue, muscles, and connective tissue. Cells of different tissues are specialized for disparate functions. These functions include defense, contraction (movement), enzyme production, enzyme production and transport, transmision of nerve impulses and reproduction.
