Answer

The mouth or oral cavity is contained within the following boundaries/borders: the lips , anteriorly; the cheeks, laterally; the palate superiorly and posteriorly; the tongue, basally. The general lining of the mouth is stratified squamous epithelium. In areas exposed to great abrasive pressure the epithelium is keratinized ; such areas include the gums and the hard palate. Where abrasive forces are minimal, the epithelium is nonkeratinized as is the case in the floor of the mouth, the soft palate, and inside cheeks and lips.
