Elastic filaments of myofibers are about 1 nm in diameter. They contain molecules of titin, a very large protein ( 3000kD) which confers the property of elastic recoil on myofibers. The elastic filaments run through the middle of thick filaments . They anchor each thick filament to the Z disc on one end and to the M-line at the other end of the sarcomere.
