Chapter 6 - Section 6.4 - Graphs of Polar Equations - Exercise Set - Page 755: 80

See below:

Work Step by Step

Follow the steps given below: Step 1. Open TI83 calculator. Step 2. Select MODE. In MODE select RADIAN and POLAR form. Step 3. Now, select Y=. Type the function in polar form $ r={{\sin }^{4}}4\theta +\cos 3\theta $. Step 4. Press WINDOW option. Step 5. In WINDOW set range for x $\left( -8,8 \right)$. Set range for y $\left( -6,6 \right)$. Step 6. Set the scale for x and y as 1 and $\theta \,\text{step}\,\text{=}\,\text{0}\text{.1}$. The graph is similar and symmetric along 2nd and the 3rd quadrant. It is also symmetric and similar in the 1st and 4th quadrant with a different shape.
