Chapter 2 - Section 2.7 - Polynomial and Rational Inequalities - Exercise Set - Page 414: 83

Answer

See explanations.

Work Step by Step

For a polynomial or rational function $f(x)$, the graph of the function will show its solutions; that is, points where the curve crosses the x-axis, and the range of x-values between these zeros where the curve is below the x-axis will give the solution set for the inequality $f(x)\lt0$. If there are no zeros, the entire curve would be either above the x-axis (no solution) or entirely below the x-axis (entire domain as its solution).
