Make a table of values for $y=x$ and $y=x-2$ (refer to the table below). Then, graph each function by plotting each ordered pair and connect the set of points using a straight line. (Refer to the graph above. The black graph is $y=x$ and the green graph is $y=x-2$.) Note that the value of $x-2$ is two less than the value of $x$. Thus, the graph of $y=x-2$ is the graph of $y=x$ translated $2$ units downward.
