Chapter 6 - Systems of Equations and Inequalities - Mid-Chapter Quiz - Page 389: 16

Have to sell 250 cones to break even

Work Step by Step

Let "c" be the number of cones sold and "d" be the amount of expense or income because in order to break even, the expense is equal to the income. We have two equations: Expense: y=0.45x+200 Income: y=1.25x 0.45x+200=1.25x 200=1.25x-0.45x (Subtract 0.45x from both sides) 200=0.8x x=250 (DIvide 0.8 from both sides) Therefore you have to sell 250 cones to make no profit and not in debt
