Chapter 3 - Solving Inequalities - 3-1 Inequalities and Their Graphs - Practice and Problem-Solving Exercises - Page 168: 21

Answer

Graph:
1510803800

Work Step by Step

Graph a blank number line and label the intervals accordingly. In $y\gt 2$, $2$ is not a solution, so when graphing the inequality, there needs to be an open circle at the point $2$. The numbers less than $2$ are to the left of $2$ on the number line, and the numbers greater than $2$ are to the right of $2$ on the number line. Because the inequality states that $y$ is greater than $2$, we shade to the right of our point of $2$. Now, the graph should look like the one shown in the answer.
