Work Step by Step

The change of flow of execution from one process to another is called context switch. The context switch can be due to many possible reasons like time quantum of a process expires, an interrupt or a traps occurs etc. Example: Let suppose the CPU is currently executing some process P1 and suddenly an high priority process P2 arises, So now the CPU puts the process P1 in waiting or ready queue and starts executing the process P2. This switching of process is called as context switch.
