Talk to Her Irony

Talk to Her Irony

Lydia

Marco watches Lydia on a talk show begin to resist the questions that the host is asking. She handles the matter poorly by attempting to walk off the set. Ironically her manner is exactly what attracts Marco to her as he sees her desperation.

Snakes

Lydia is a bullfighter. She takes on 1,000 pound bulls to the death, but ironically she is terrified of snakes. She runs screaming from her home when she finds one and Marco must kill it for her. She won't even go back in the house nor get clothes to wear from it.

Staring

Marco is at the long term care facility walking the hallway when he sees the door to Lydia's room cracked open. He stares in at her as she's being bathed and she lies motionless. Ironically, she opens her eyes and looks directly at Marco and it scares him. He leaves and the nurses close her eyes as it is an involuntary reaction.

Close

Marco and Benigno sit next to each other at a dance performance. They don't know each other, but Benigno sees him cry. Ironically, Marco arrives at the same long term care facility that Benigno works at and they become very close over the remainder of the film.

No Memory

Alicia's father comes to the long term care facility to visit his daughter. Benigno is there are was once a patient of his as he is a psychiatrist. He asks Benigno why he came to see him the first time. He tells him he doesn't remember. Ironically he does know, it was to find out why Alicia had stopped coming to ballet. But he does not dare tell him this for fear of being taken off of caring for Alicia.
