Renton on the Treadmill

Renton is introduced while he is running commandingly on a treadmill. Suddenly, though, he slips and falls to the ground like a sack of potatoes.

Renton's Drug Habit

Renton, a habitual heroin user, said that the "choose life" anti-drug campaign was "well-meaning."

"Lust for Life"

Renton, who had horrible and violent things happen to him, dances to the song "Lust for Life" at the end of the film.

T2 Trainspotting

T2 is a sequel to the original Trainspotting which was over 20 years in the making, yet the series' outlook on Britain itself - which has changed dramatically since the first film - has not changed at all.

Renton's Monologue

Situational Irony: Towards the start of the film, Renton says to "Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family..." However, he has done none of those things.
