    What is The Myth?

    The Myth is a movement and an organization in Florida that aims to address the climate crisis through creation of a new kind of ecosystem, called the wetlands. However, they are deterred by the lack of financial investment, and as such, spend a large part of the story trying to gain sponsors to finance their project.

    How does The Myth relate to real-life perspectives?

    The Myth is ironically named, as many people in reality do believe climate change to be a myth. Indeed, there has been recent claims of climate change being ‘fake news’ to incite fear within the public, despite the vast amount of scientific backing behind it. Thus, naming the secret organization committed to protecting the wetlands as ‘The Myth’ is a play on real life attitudes towards the global crisis.

    What is Foote’s role in the story?

    Foote is a member of the government who interferes with the progress made by The Myth organization in their protype of the wetland. He tries to cut off their access to funding for their project and goes to lengths to keep the rising sea levels a secret from the public.
