ELF Eco-terrorists

ELF terrorists symbolize the developed nations’ neglect of environmental conservation. The author describes ELF as eco-terrorists who put their interest first without thinking of the negative impacts on innocent people. The leading polluters of the environment are the developed countries such as U.S.A, Europe, and China, among others. These countries are more industrialized, and they are the leaders of carbon emission, which contributes to environmental pollution. The developing and third world countries in Africa and other parts of the world suffer the most from environmental pollution emitted from the developed nations.

Marisa’s seductive behavior

Marisa's seductive behavior symbolizes a pawn game between Marisa and her boyfriend, Jimmy. Marisa is out to hurt Jimmy because she feels that she no longer needs him. After all, she wants a new boyfriend. She behaves seductively towards Marshall to hurt Jimmy. Marshall started realizing that Marisa is using him to hurt her boyfriend, who is present. The author writes, "Marshall felt despondent again. She was using him; he was a pawn in this game between them."

Marisa’s Heels

Marisa’s heels symbolize the passion between Jonathan and Marisa. The author writes, "He looked at the bed and saw the dark streaks on the sheets from her heels; she had not taken them off until midway through their love-making. Now, the heels were tossed away, coming to a stop beneath the window. Signs of their passion. He still felt, even now, as if he were in the dream."

The symbol of Peter Evans

Despite Peter Evans being the youngest attorney, he is brilliant and more informed. Consequently, Peter Evans represents ability beyond age limits. According to the author, age is not a limitation in one’s capabilities. The author writes, “Next, young Peter Evans bounced out of the car. Evans was the youngest of Morton's attorneys and the one he liked best. Evans was twenty-eight and junior associate of the Los Angeles firm of Hassle and Black."

George Morton

Morton is used in the fictional book to represent a transformational change in environmental conservation. Morton is a philanthropist, and he funds various research projects aimed at improving environmental conservation. Morton's actions promote environmentalism, and he uses young, intelligent brains such as Peter Evans to advance his idea. Consequently, Morton symbolizes the few determined individuals and nations doing their best to ensure a safer environment for all people.
