Same Kind of Different as Me Summary

Same Kind of Different as Me Summary

In the early years of his life, Denver is working in Louisiana on a plantation. His living conditions could well be considered slavery. After forty years of servitude, he leaves Louisiana for Texas where he fatefully runs into Ron who is a wealthy man dedicated to his religion and family. These individuals experience the ups and downs of life as they maintain their friendship and loyalty throughout the troubling times. The characters come off as inspirational with their words of great insight and wisdom.

Since this text is categorized as a Christian book, the authors are dedicated to the preaching of the evangelical words of spiritual awakening. While some readers might recognize the reinforcement of religious stereotypes, others will find the connections truly meaningful and life-changing. Ron often comes off as overzealous when interpreting the word of God. Overall, the book is spiritual and morally upright as it attempts to hold its own among religious texts.

Through religion, Denver reawakens his life’s purpose as he seeks to walk on a path of righteousness and humility. Ron believes that he has been blessed with God and that his service to Him will bear great fruits. As their life heads towards a great loss, the author’s words are heart-warming and soul-crushing.

The connection between Ron, his wife, and Denver is beautifully executed as it aids in the realization of whom they truly are deep down. Elements of miracles and religious mystery facilitate the book with a hint of spiritual insight that Christian readers will greatly appreciate. The value of prayer is also deeply dissected when Ron prays for something then goes into a mode of trying to achieve that goal fully believing in himself and the power of prayer.
