The Plantation

Cypress trees
Denver Moore expounds, “Cypress trees squatted like spiders in the water, which was the color of pale green apples.” The emblematic spiders bid the imagery of a configuration which arises from the configuration of the cypress trees.
Mule
Ron Hall reports: “Granddaddy worked like a mule and was a true redneck. That’s because he wore khaki pants and a long-sleeved khaki work shirt and work boots six days a week.” The rhetorical mule accentuates Granddaddy’s industrious disposition. His dressing convention validates the idea that he devotes most of his day to labor.
