    What was your reaction to reading "Only Death" and "Furies and Sorrows"? How does it differ from your reaction to Neruda's previous poems?

    As with previous iterations of this question, this is intended to serve as an icebreaker. Some students may have also had some difficulty with "Furies and Sorrows," which, like "Venture of the Infinite Man," is an exemplar of Neruda's avant-garde work. The teacher can use this question as an opportunity to discuss the students' difficulties with the text, as well as any other thoughts they might have.
