    Mishra is greatly angered by Omi and Dolly being together because Dolly was engaged to wed another man and the wedding was to take place. However, Mishra was told that Omi abducted Dolly from her wedding ceremony and has manipulated her into being with him. The truth is that Dolly and Omi eloped and are actually in love with one another.

    Langda hatches a plot to revenge his not being appointed successor in Omi's place. Thus, he enlists Kesu, Omi's appointee, to begin visiting Dolly in order to appeal to her on behalf of Omi. Then Langda uses these continual visits to make Omi believe there is an affair going on between the two of them. Thus, by his wedding night, Omi is so enraged by his belief that Dolly and Kesu have been betraying him that he kills Dolly, smothering her to death.
