Introduction to Mockingjay

The Hunger Games, the first book in Suzanne Collins' trilogy, was published in 2008. The book was an instant success and spawned two sequels, Catching Fire in 2009 and Mockingjay in 2010.

Mockingjay brings to a conclusion the story of Katniss Everdeen, sixteen in The Hunger Games and likely eighteen by the end of Mockingjay. Katniss grew up in District 12, one of the impoverished and oppressed industrial districts created to supply the luxurious Capitol in the nation of Panem, a futuristic North America.
