    Kind of Activity:

    Group Work

    Objective:

    Students will analyze a character in "Middlemarch" and discuss the character in a group.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.11-12.1, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.3

    Structure:

    As a class, identify the primary characters in Middlemarch. Briefly discuss the characters, citing text to support descriptions. For instance, the class might say that Rosamond thinks she is too good for her surroundings, based on her telling her mother in Chapter XI that she won’t marry a man from Middlemarch.
