dystopia (noun)

an imagined state or society in which there is great suffering or injustice, typically one that is totalitarian or post-apocalyptic.

to abuse or damage someone's body.

stand-up comedy (noun)

a comic style in which a comedian performs in front of a live audience, usually speaking directly to them.

Gotham (proper noun)

The fictional city that is the setting for the Batman comic book universe. A large dystopian metropolis plagued by crime and poverty.

tenure (noun)

the holding of an office.

depression (noun)

feelings of severe despondency and dejection.

orderly (noun)

an attendant in a hospital responsible for the nonmedical care of patients and the maintenance of order and cleanliness.

social worker (noun)

a profession concerned with helping individuals, families, groups and communities to enhance their individual and collective well-being.

vigilante (noun)

a member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority, typically because the legal agencies are thought to be inadequate.

delusion (noun)

an idiosyncratic belief or impression that is firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality or rational argument; typically a symptom of mental disorder.

psychosis (noun)

a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality.
