In the Day 1 activity, “The Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island,” students will discuss research they did at home about the author, the book, and the real woman who survived alone on the island, supplemented by a live video about the island they watch in class.

In the Day 2 activity, “The Tribal Council,” students will discuss an assigned article about tribal governments by pointing out some of the most relevant statements from the article on an interactive whiteboard, comparing these general statements on tribal government to the branches of the United States government as well as to the government represented in Island of the Blue Dolphins.
