    What makes the opening of chapter one of I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter unusual? Explain why the author might have made this choice.

    The narrator is talking about her recently dead sister superficially. She focuses on the way she dressed and the way she is dressed in the casket. She talks about her sister without the kind of despair and sadness one might expect from a girl whose older sister just died.
