George's Marvelous Medicine Irony

George's Marvelous Medicine Irony

The paradox of the marvelous medicine

George's grandma is ill and needs to take her medicine as scheduled. When George's parents leave for their daily routines away from home, they instruct him to give his grandmother the medicine at 11.00 am. Paradoxically, George comes up with a plan to tame his grandmother's rudeness by mixing the medicine with oil, fruit juice, and other substances. When the grandmother takes medicine, she grows very fat. Ironically, George proudly tells his parents that he mixed the medicine with other substances to tame his grandmother's behavior.

The satire of opportunity

When George reveals the formula for making the drug that fattens up people, he tries it on chicken and sees a business opportunity. George convinces his parents to persuade chicken farmers to buy the medicine to make their chicken fat within a short period. At first, the drug works but fails miserably in the subsequent attempts. Therefore, the business opportunity fails, and this contradicts George's initial expectations of becoming very rich. '

The irony of George’s parents

George's parents are paradoxical characters because they support the crazy ideas of their son. When George's parents come back and find their mother very fat, they are not mad at him because he convinces them he was trying to tame his grandmother's rudeness. When George convinces his parents to sell the mischievous medicine to chicken farmers, they accept without seeing a bad idea of the venture.
