Edmund Spencer

Edmund is the agent sent by the Queen of England to go to Ireland to stop the ongoing revolution. The people of Ireland are not happy because England is oppressing them. The Queen is worried that if an action is not taken in advance, Ireland will fight back and claim its independence.

Gloriana

Gloriana is the Queen of England who controls various territories, including Ireland. Rebellions in her colonies pose a threat to her reign, so she sends Edmond to England to stop the ongoing insurgency.

Malengin

Malengin is an Irish character who betrays and deceives Edmond. Edmond is not happy with Malengin because he works against his directives intentionally.

Joves

Joves is the king of Gods, as described in the Mutabilitie Cantos.

Mutabilitie Cantos

Mutabiltie is a critical character who tells off Joves that he is powerful because of the military backup.

Trevor Joyce

Trevor is the translator who translates many of Edmond Spencer’s sonnets. He also reworks Mutabilitie’s Cantos’ poems. Trevor is not happy with the way England is interfering with the affairs of Ireland.
