Fastness: A Translation from the English of Edmund Spenser is a translation of the poetry of Edmund Spenser published in 2017 by Irish author and translator Trevor Joyce. One of the most famous poems in the book is "The Ruines of Rome," which Joyce put his own modern twist on. The book has, for the most part, been received well by the public, despite not reaching best seller status on any major lists.
Born in 1947, Trevor Joyce is an Irish poet, writer, and translator. He is not most well known for this translation work, but rather for The Poems of Sweeny and Peregrine. Although he attended the University College Dublin for literary education, he later studied Mathematical Sciences at the University College Cork. He currently resides in Cork, and frequently attends literary sessions to discuss the works of him and others.
