The budding love between Chueh-hui and Mingfeng seems impossible - why is that? And what, in your opinion, might actually make it possible?

The immediate causes of the difficulties between Chueh-hui and Ming-feng will be apparent to all students: they are, as Ming-feng points out, of different social classes, and so cannot be permitted to married. More than that, however, Chueh-hui and Ming-feng are prevented from being together by the opinion of society and, in particular, the opinion of the rest of the Kao family. In this respect, Family has more in common than one might first believe with works like Romeo and Juliet.
