Not afraid of you
When Beatrice wants to go away, Richard convinces her to stay, and then asks her if she is afraid of him. Initially, Beatrice tries to convince him through her words that she was not afraid of him. Ironically, the description of her actions, the way she behaved when Richard tried to touch her proved the complete opposite.
You must ask me but it may be that I will not answer you
After being reunited with Beatrice, Richard asks her a number of questions, trying to find out what she was thinking about the relationship and what she wanted from a possible future relationship. Unfortunately, Beatrice refused to answer time and time again. When she was instead told to speak her mind, she told Richard he must continue to ask her questions, to which, ironically, she continued to give no clear answers.
You come to me but you still love another
When Beatrice first sees Richard after a long period of time, they discuss the former relationship Beatrice had with Robert. It is clear that the couple loved one another very much and it is possible that Beatrice still had feelings for Robert. Knowing this, it is ironic to see how she went to Richard, a man she knew that was in love with her.
I will leave you alone with him
Soon after the initial conversation between Richard and Beatrice, a knock was heard on the door. Upon hearing this, Richard was quick to excuse himself, claiming he did not want to stick around to meet with Robert. Thus, ironically, Richard let Beatrice in the hands of his most pertinent rival, even though he knew Beatrice still had feelings for Robert.
You say this to other women as well
When Robert tried to convince Bertha that he loves her, he used a lot of compliments and tried to convince her of his affections using flattering and also gifts. Robert hoped these actions will convince Bertha to give in and agree to be with him but ironically, it had the opposite effect. The reason why Robert’s actions did not had the expected result was because Robert already used the same strategy with other women and thus became known because of this.
