Biography of J.C. Burke

J.C. Burke, or Jane Catherine Burke, was born in 1965 in Sydney, Australia. Born the fourth of five daughters to parents who were both writers, Burke initially trained to be a nurse at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. She began publishing stories in 1999 and published her first novel, White Lies, in 2002. Her books, such as The Red Cardigan and Pig Boy, have made the Children's Book Council of Australia's Notables list multiple times. The Story of Tom Brennan has received multiple accolades, such as being awarded the CBCA's Book of the Year for Older Readers and making the shortlist for the Children's Peace Literature Award.
