    Langston Hughes and the Poetry of Resistance

    Kind of Activity:

    Creative Writing

    Objective:

    Students will write their own resistance or otherwise political poem, based on Langston Hughes's poem, "I, Too."

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.R.1.11-12; CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.R.7.11-12

    Structure:

    If you did not assign the additional homework assignment for class, ask students to review the Langston Hughes found on the Poetry Foundation website.
