A Good Girl's Guide to Murder Imagery

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder Imagery

"Police Deployment"

The descriptions of the police offer visual imagery of the meticulousness that is employed during investigations relating to disappearances. A reader can visualize the imagery of police officers’ movements once a person disappears. Angela explains, “The officers will get further information about the missing person, such as details of their friends or partners; any health conditions; financial information, in case they withdrew money.” The police must be involved in investigations and the search for that person. They are trained to gather the information that could help trace the missing persons. They focus on the individuals who may have interacted with the missing person before their disappearance. The information their gather reconstructs the final movements of the missing individual. Forensic studies are based on the information gathered by the police. Accordingly, police are expected to be meticulous in their investigations.

Evidence

Criminal investigations rely on evidence to determine who is culpable. The visual imagery of the evidence is described exhaustively. Jackson writes, "They found Andie's phone on Sal's body. Forensic tests found traces of Andie's blood under the fingernails…Andie's blood was discovered in the trunk of the abandoned car. Sal's fingerprints were found around the dashboard and steering wheel." Sal is held liable for Andie's disappearance because forensic evidence indicates that Sal had contact with Andie before she disappeared. Nobody considers that evidence is not conclusive. For example, Sal's fingerprints on Andie's car may be attributed to his previous use of the car, given that they had been in a romantic relationship. The investigators ignore the possibility that someone may have maliciously planted Andie's blood under Sal's fingerprints to implicate him in a murder he did not commit. The investigators rush to conclude that Andie was murdered even though her body has not yet been recovered. Additionally, the conclusion that Sal murdered himself is hasty and flawed. He may have been murdered by the same parties responsible for Andy's disappearance. The handling and analysis of evidence determine whether a culprit will be found. Otherwise, innocent parties may be incriminated for crimes they did not engage in.

"Security Cameras"

Security cameras are crucial in the gathering of visual imagery that serves as evidence. The police report, "Footage taken from a security camera outside the bank on Fairview's Main Street confirms that Andie's car was seen driving away from her home at about 10.40. p.m." Police use camera footage to map out Andie's last movements at specific times. Looking at the footage offers leads that could help search for and recover her body if she is dead. Furthermore, the footage, which is timestamped, helps in ascertaining the specific time she vanished. Even though the cameras did not prevent Andie's disappearance, they are key components in tracing Andie's movements and gathering evidence that could help investigate her disappearance.
