We know that at the equator, the field points to the north. When the normal to the loop points north, the direction of the magnetic field and the normal are parallel and hence the flux is maximum. On the other hand, when the normal to the loop points vertically up, then the direction of the magnetic field and the normal are perpendicular and hence the magnetic flux becomes zero. Thus, we conclude that when the normal points north, the flux is greater than when the normal points vertically upward.
