In this activity, students will have the chance to change seminal events in Conrad's novella using their imagination.
Pair students, and have one student in each pair take the role of Marlow and the other the role of Kurtz. They will role play the confrontation at the fire. The student playing Marlow needs to try to convince Kurtz to leave, and the student playing Kurtz should respond to Marlow's arguments.
After some time for pair discussion, allow several volunteer pairs to enact their argument...
