to understand the role of point of view in Marlow's version of events
Tell the students that they will be taking the role of a reporter, writing about an incident in the novel. In their role, remind them of the essential questions every reporter must ask: who, what, when, where, why, and how. Each student should choose what sort of news outlet they are writing for. Discuss some options, and how a story in a London muckraking broadsheet might be different from a report in the company newsletter.
Inform students that they will be writing an article about the incident in which the boat is attacked...
