Robin DiAngelo is an author, speaker, and educator on race relations and anti-racism. DiAngelo coined the term "white fragility" in 2011 to refer to white people's low tolerance for racial discomfort. She has since become widely known for her work relating to the concept. DiAngelo was born in San Jose, California in 1956 to a working-class family that fell into poverty. She speaks about her childhood poverty as an experience that would have been vastly different if she had not been white.
